My Highlight from Yesterday ( 16th of August )

Talofa lava Blog World,

Yesterday in school I wasn't in my class ( room 7 ), I was actually in room 8. I was in room 8 because that was my class for split class. Some went in room 8 and some went in room 9. And some went to a rugby tournament. Yesterday's highlight for me was doing a tech challenge. Our tech challenge was making a gadget that would reach 1 meter to pick up a fruit.  After when everyone has made their gadgets, everyone tried their gadgets and none has achieved the goal which was grabbing the fruit. One group was so close but the fruit kept sliding off.  Our gadgets was only used with paper, rubber band, paper clip, cello tape, ice block stick, earbud and a scissors. When my group tried ours broke. Well that was my highlight, what was your highlight for the day?

Learning Conversation

Talofa lava Blog World,

Wednesday and Thursday Hay Park School has been doing learning conversations. A learning conversation is when students and their parent attend to a learning conversation and what you do is you have a conversation between your parent and your teacher but you ( student ) is doing most of the talking. You would need to make a presentation which records your learning about all subjects in school like Maths, Reading and Writing. We have been doing learning conversations because so that our parents know what their child has been doing at school and what they have been learning and also what their child need help. And what they need work on. Here is a presentation of mine that I needed to talk about in the learning conversation:

Meeting Andrew Nicholson!!!

Talofa lava Blog World,

Something very exciting has just happened this morning! As soon as I herd that Andrew Nicholson is coming, I burst into red cheeks but I didn't know why because I don't even know him. Until I searched up Andrew Nicholson online and I herd that he is a speed skater. And I was thinking to myself, OMG a professional skater is coming to Hay Park School and is going to be talking to the seniors! As soon as I walked into the library that was going to be the space of our communication with Andrew Nicholson, I saw a man that was tall, who was wearing black shorts and a t-shirt that said " te aha matatu".  Until he ( Andrew Nicholson) started off with saying a warm welcome. He also said that he will be telling two stories, one of them is going to be about speed skating and the other would be about cycling. I have herd that he has been traveling around the world on a bicycle in 123 days. The reason why he has been wanting to skate and riding on a bicycle is because other kids has been doing bad stuff which causes a lot of trouble and he didn't want to be that kind of kid. He said that he wasn't really good at sports when he was a young age and he was short until his brother started to encourage him and he thought to himself of wanting to be in the Olympics so then he traveled, trained a did lot of things to achieve his goal which was competing in the Olympics. Here are some photos of this mornings talk:
Here is Andrew Nicholson explaining very badly accidents his brother have been through.

Here is everyone and Andrew Nicholson trying to go down without putting the leg that is flying on the ground.

OMG Andrew Nicholson is down below in a 90 below angle!

NED Show!!!

Bonjua Blog World,

Today something very exciting happened. When I was walking to school there was a sign on the window at school saying " NED is coming..." I reacted with a very exciting face. I was wondering why NED was all in capital until there was a show happening after lunch. Later on, lunch is finished all classes are line up and is very prepared to see the NED show. As I walked into the hall I saw a lady and a table which had a speaker and a jumper. I also saw a big picture of a boy which looked like it was drawn by somebody.  Until the show was beginning. The lady started of with introducing her name and the boy's name. The boy was name " NED". She started off with saying a story about NED and during the story she did tricks with a yoyo, and it was pretty AMAZING and COOL! After the amazing story. She talked about what NED stands for.
Never give up
Encourage others
Do your best.
I thought that the meaning of NED was very helpful, positive and very thoughtful. To finish off the show the lady did magic with a tissue. She put the tissue in her mouth and everyone felt disgusted. When she takes it out it wasn't a tissue it was a very long string that was colorful. Here are some photos from the NED show:
Here is Manahal with the lady who was showing AMAZING tricks with the yoyo!

Here is the lady taking out a long colorful string out of her mouth.

Here is Joseph who won two prizes which is a boomerang yo yo and a red clip which can hold the yoyo.

Dancing with Emily!

Talofa lava Blog World,

Today Scott Class and I went to a dance session, our learning focus was to choreograph a dance. First of all, we learnt to do the hokey pokey dance. Then, we did some warm up by dancing. Last of all we needed to make a movement with our first letter of our name but our moves needed to be moving. Making a choreograph with the letter you start with is hard until Emily came and help me so all I needed to do is learning the move. Then we went into three groups and did our movements together. Here comes the exciting part ... We PERFORM! When it came to my group I was a little bit shaky until I started performing I kept giggling for some reason. For our finishing part we were stretching. Get comfy because you are going to see what Scott Class and I did for our first session of dance.
Here is one of the group doing their choreography

Here is another group doing their choreography and I'm loving their wavy hands :)

Here is everyone warming up. Can't wait to have our next session!

Normally we just have a flat mat. When we started I wanted to start on the beat board for our big mat we had 2 options they were either doing a superhero ( when you jump you swing your arms and then land on your tummy ) the other options was diving and do a flip. Swing is mainly about swinging your arms or your legs. Get comfy because you are going to see some awesome photos of the awesome Scott Class:

Super Sentence

Kia ora Blog World,

We started doing super sentence last week Friday. First we need to get into pairs so we did, my pair was Osana. Before I start writing more, super sentences has seven steps which you need to include in your sentence if you are going to write a super sentence. The seven steps are:

  1. Add in words
  2. Drop in chunks of info
  3. Add on at the end
  4. Add on at the beginning
  5. Change words
  6. Add a simile
  7. Alliterate
For our first sentence we need to make this sentence ( The boy ran down to the river) into a super sentence. Me and Osana didn't put it into a sentence but we did the seven steps.

Our second task was to complete a sentence which was the child walked to school but we had to do it on our own. This is a image of mine:

I hope you liked it!

Mathematical Mum Story

Talofa lava Blog World,

Last last week our book was name " mathematical mum" which was based on a mathematical mum who goes shopping with her kids and she gets them to find out about the data of the amount of groceries they need and how much it cost all together. For our create task we needed to make a story related to the story but different. Here is my story and I hope you like it.

Week 6 Gymnastics

Malo Lelei Blog World,

this morning me and my class ( Scott ) has been having our Gymnastic session. Today's focus is Manipulate. Manipulate means changing, when I mean changing I don't mean by growing or changing into clothes, I mean by changing a object to do something that it can't do by it's self. For example we were flying the hoop in the air and catching it. I had so much fun in Gymnastics but one thing was so annoying that people kept talking when Kane ( coach ) tells instructions. One thing I struggled was doing a cart wheel. My teacher ( Mr Lintott ) forgot to take photos but all I could tell you is that I learnt many skills and tricks that is manipulation.

Week 5 Hockey

Hello again blog world,

Today we had our week 5 session of Hockey. We mainly just played a Hockey game but our coach sent people out of the game. There was a reason why and that reason has helped us a lot . There were reasons that he sent us out, such as not letting the Hockey stick fly off the ground. Also not getting our fast feet in the way. When I mean by getting the fast feet in the way, I mean when we are playing we have to make sure that we are hitting the ball with the stick and not getting the ball stick to our feet. Get comfy because you are going to see some awesome actions from this morning's hockey session:

This is Scott Class playing Hockey.

Here are the girls who is trying to get the ball to the other side so that they can score!

Here is Scott Class running to the ball.

Here comes Scott Class again. They are still playing the game and yet the girls and the boys haven't score.
